Swimming is a sport facilitated entirely by volunteers. Everyone you see on pool deck at any meet is volunteering their time to enable our swimmers to compete.
Charlestown Swimming Club is run by volunteer committee members. Please consider becoming involved so that our club can continue to develop and be a place our swimmers can achieve their goals.
Club nights are where the swimming journey begins. These nights are about fun, friendship and practicing the skill that is racing. Please help and volunteer on club night. Volunteering is done on the ‘Swim Club’ application used by the club. No experience is necessary and it is a great way to get to know other swim club families.
Each club night, we need:
- Race Marshall – Organise swimmers into their heats and lanes.
- Race Starter – Announces and starts each race.
- Timekeepers – 8 timekeepers are needed each club night. It is a very easy role to do and is done on your own mobile phone with the ‘Swim Club Connect’ app.
- BBQ Cooking – 2 volunteers are needed each week to help cook and serve the BBQ. Everything is supplied so you just cook and serve. There is a great view of the pool from the bbq area so you won’t miss your child race.
There is an expectation that clubs participating at meets fulfil time keep requirements. The timekeeping schedule is calculated based on the amount of swimmers each club has competing at the meet. A timekeeping roster will be sent on ‘Team App’ where attending families can self nominate. Time keeping is usually broken up into one hour slots. If you haven’t time kept at a meet before, don’t worry, we’ll pair you up with an experienced timekeeper. It is an easy job and you’ll have the best view of the races on the day!
